Where does your Rooster sleep?

No Roos allowed, but the neighbors have had one for years and years. I’d like to hatch some babies out of some good quality hens I have, but stressing over the Roo is taking all the fun out

Just know that it only takes a neighbor (could even be a new to the area neighbor) complaining and then the rules get enforced.

We are allowed a rooster here legally.....but I doubt my neighbors would appreciate it so I choose not to.

How will you deal with the male chicks that you hatch? Have a plan ready.

Mine sleeps on the floor of the coop too. In the corner right next to the pop door. I was worried at first but seems this might be normal? He’s slept on the roost a couple of times but not usually. I thought maybe the girls weren’t allowing him to roost since he is younger but there’s several wide open roosts with no one on them that he could use. I guess he just prefers to protect his girls. :love

My one rooster sleeps in my bigger coop with a run with most of my hens and guinea hens. The other one sleeps in an old dog house with a door on it with a turkey and 4 hens. He is my free range rooster. He just goes in when it gets dark.

I have four pullets they are 9 week old, and 1 5 month old rooster named Poncharello . He's a very friendly guy and gets along great with the 4 littles . He would go in their coop at night if I let him but I'm not sure if it's safe? He has his own coop and the little ones always go in his coop in the daytime .. I wonder if he can go in with them yet?

I have one that sleeps on my chest. One that sleeps in a little bin beside us on the ground. And one sleeps in one of the palms my hammock is hanging from. I fashion cardboard poop bibs for myself, which believe it or not, are 100% effective. Only since Bruce let me know he didn't appreciate the diapers catching his poops by emptying his little collections out onto me whenever he felt necessary.. and if I happened to sleep through his little routine I was awake shortly after when he would scoot himself up and plop down on my face because he didn't want to then lay in it..

Slightly questioning if I should even share this. lolol..

My chickens sleep in pile. lol.

About a month ago my rooster (P-Diddy) was put in time out for a week due to being aggressive. He's behaving much better but hasn't gone back in the coop since. I was fine with that since it gives the hens a break but was surprised as I'd expected him to want back in their coop. However, the place P-Diddy is staying isn't going to be suitable in cold weather so it seems I'll need to build him his own coop. If he had his way, he'd sleep on top of the coop. When all the hens go in he immediately gets up there until we put him away.
So, this made me curious, where do your roosters sleep? With or separate from the hens? If separate, is it higher than the hens coop?
Anytime you remove a chicken or rooster out of the coop you risk them not accepting him back in the flock. If he was too aggressive you may have to rehome him or make him his own shelter .Theres nothing saying the flock will let him stay in the coop

... removing roosters for shows can cause them to be attacked by the flock when brought back especially if you have other roosters
