Where is the love? -Open discussion for considering our actions

I didn't say the report function doesn't work. I wasn't accusing anyone of not doing their job and I certainly wasn't saying things had to be my way.
If people chose to volunteer to moderate that is fantastic for them, their choice, and criticism will happen.
Okay... didn't you start this thread by asking "where is the love?"

The entire point of my op was to acknowledge the presence of uncivil disagreement and ask if others had seen it, too.
I was not saying my feelings were hurt -they aren't- and I wasn't asking for sympathies to me or to be advised to ignore things.

I appreciate the conversation and concern directed at me, however that is not the intended focus of this thread.

Another thing I've noticed with this board is that even though the rules state no religious/political talk, multiple threads pertaining to these topics are allowed to flourish. Especially threads about Abrahamic religions. Meanwhile a thread civily discussing the pros and cons of terminating human gestations was quickly deleted.
I can’t speak for the moderators but I can hazard as to why a thread would be deleted. Terminating a human pregnancy is a very personal topic and I for one don’t believe it should be shared with strangers on the internet. It is also a very volatile topic that can easily escalate with supporters on each side attacking each other.
Religious threads seem to be a way to unite those who are part of a religion and not to argue or debate over customs or such.

i have even seen some curse words on here.

OMG! That wouldn't bother me in the least UNLESS it were intended to offend or hurt.

To me it's all language and it's all useful. There's actually a scientific paper that researched the matter and found that people who avail themselves of colorful language have lower blood pressure.

This babe who went to a proper Midwestern girls' college (back in the late 60s) is all for it! In fact, that's where I learned my sailor's vocabulary. :th

Yes. Where is the love for the community identity and other members. Fighting to such lengths is not showing love. Love being a multifaceted word, in this case referring to being kind and mindful of others.

It doesn't bother me except when directed at someone, but I know for a fact that even some of the minor swear words, even the sneaky spelling of such words, do offend many members

Even wtf, wth, gtfo, wtfh, idfk, etc? Those abbreviations are used widely here and not starred out. Not trying to start an argument.

My point exactly.
I could make an atheist thread and chances are it'd get shut down quickly.

You might think so but I fessed up to being an atheist on a thread and there was no problem despite the fact that the person who started the thread is particularly devout.

I don't go around "announcing" it or challenging anyone else's beliefs but it was pertinent to the discussion and handled with decorum and kindness all the way around I thought. And, consequently, it was over as soon as it started.
