Where is your favorite vacation destination in the USA and why?

if you like historic old towns, cape may is the place to visit in the southern part of NJ. The barnegat area is another. there is alot of heritage in south jersey just all over the place and not much in 1 area

Vacation?!? What's a vacation? Don't think I've ever had one. However, I have showed horses all over and my favorite place is Venice, Florida.

Used to live in Florissant, Colorado and would go back there in a heartbeat.

I loved Arizona and New Mexico when I traveled through. The landscape is so different from here in PA. Arizona has an annual rock and gem show in January that I'd love to go to. Sedona looks pretty happening too. There is a horse show in Devon, PA that takes you on some beautiful countryside to get there. Quite nice. Have fun on your vacation.

I haven't had a vacation in 15 years! Since DH doesn't like to travel or fly and I wouldn't be caught dead in a bathing suit or on a cruise ship, I don't like to sweat, and my ideal vacation is spending time with people I care about and not having to run here and there getting caught up in all the commercialism. I enjoy peace and quiet, the outdoors (minus the bugs), fishing, hunting, camping, relaxing. I enjoyed Cape Cod, Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine. Sure, some day I would like to see Greece, Israel, Ireland, Alaska. If gas wasn't so expensive, I might like to travel across the USA in an RV.

My favorite place to visit is my own farm. Nothing beats sitting in a chair in the sun while listening to the chickens cluck, the horses whinny and have the barn kitties snuggle up to you. The summers and winters may be a bit extreme but the spring and fall so make up for it with their beauty.

My favorite place in the U.S. to visit is Kauai but you can't drive there. It's a quiet island, very family oriented and gorgeous!!! Not a ton of nightlife but that's the way I like it.

On the mainland some of my favorite spots are the canyons of Arizona and Utah. You can hike to see Native American ruins, amazing red rock formations and gorgeous canyons, there is rafting, swimming and boating. Love Sedona (Oak Creek Canyon), Bryce Canyon, Arches National park, Grand Canyon (try the less crowded views, just go past the first view stop). We love to camp along the way. Wonderful vacation!

Here at home there are always the casinos but DH and I aren't gamblers. Hot August Nights is a blast though (tons of classic cars/trucks etc. set to a 50's theme), so is the rib fest (Labor day weekend) with tons of craft booths, food and music, there's also the air show (from high speed jets to acrobatic planes to antique air craft), the hot air balloon races, Street Vibrations (everything motorcycles), Art Town in July etc, etc. There are a bunch of events here during the summer months!

It used to be Nags Head NC back in the 60's before it got so crowded. I used to like Disney World too but the last time we were there--March 2010--I got so battered and bruised by people pushing strollers in I vowed never to go back. Maybe Universal Studios would be better. Our area isn't that vacationer friendly but with Cooperstown with the Baseball Hall of Fame close and the weather it is ideal. Rather stay here than go elsewhere for the weather and some of the golf courses.
