Where to buy low number chicks?

I've checked here, but it says for my zip code they need to ship 6 for large and 8 for bantam. *sigh* These are EEs, though, so might have to look at other breeds. Boo. I wouldn't mind a silkie in there, but we are looking for eggs.

Thanks!

I have TSC, and they are only getting cornish rocks. He said pullets are coming in on Tuesday. We only have one other feed store in town and they are getting them at the end of the month for 2 days and no one knew offhand what they were getting.

What I've seen at Cackle was a minimum of 5. Hunny thinks we're going to get popped if we get more than 3 because of the noise. Obviously, we are in town, but unable to locate any kind of city ordinance saying anything about pets/chickens/fowl. I know some neighborhoods have covenants, but if we have one here, I have never seen it.

Am still looking.... thanks!

I haven't received my order from my pet chicken yet, but if I remember correctly from when I placed the order it was $35 in shipping costs.

Idea is good, they require a $25 min. order, but you can add merchandise to it to get there, I think. They're WAY cheaper then MyPetChicken (I ran the numbers!). My chicks arrived happy and healthy. And you can add insurance to the order for $1.75 so that they don't send you packing peanuts.

Could always post an ad for others wanting small numbers or just put the word out with friends or family to meet the minimum order requirement!

Keep checking with your TSC. They should be getting americaunas as a featured breed. They will probably get them a few times. They will be straight run though.

Check Craigslist for breeders in your area. They will generally sell you any number of chicks you want. In my area in February when I needed chicks to keep one company, I couldn't find any. Now, they are everywhere. It's definitely worth a try.
