Where to find out if you can have chickens in your town?

I live in Byron, IL. It's a small town 2 hours west of Chicago. I live out of town and have about 5 acres of land. I do have neighbors close by. I already have 8 chickens (2 more coming in June, including 1 rooster). My neighbor also has chickens and ducks. My other neighbor doesn't care and even offered to take care of them when we leave town. My question is where to find out if they are allowed? I doubt that it isn't allowed but I want to make sure.

You are better off doing a Google search. That link is slightly better than worthless. For Ohio there are a whopping 9 municipalities listed. And, to get to anything beyond the most basic of search functions they want you to pay.
