Where Were You When the World Stopped Turning?

We were planning on going to Chicago for the Scottish Celtic Festival but it was cancelled because of 9/11. People were so scared that Chicago would be the next town that the terrorists were going to target. Not only Chicago, but St Francisco, CA, Denver, CO, St Louis, MO and I forgot most cities that the terrorists were trying to get.

Oh the sheer panic people had at that time and a fun time for price hikers and gougers alike!

I was working bio-terrorism for the state. Well, I was the assistant to the head, so I just kept his calender and all that crap. We were in a meeting that was typically boring when the report came in that a plane had hit WTC. So we turned the news on and watched the 2nd plane hit.

Then went into lock down, it was mayhem and chaos, I had little kids and babies, DH was going to be deployed and I have no real memory of the next few years, it just kind of happened and I kept on keeping on.

I was at my office job. One of the guy's wives called to tell us about it.
I turned on the radio, then my boss made me turn it off, saying that we had to get back to work.

I think the thing that bothered me the most was the footage of places in the world that had people dancing in the streets and cheering.

I was at work in the middle of a radiation drill, when we stopped the playacting and watched the news. All the planes were grounded and we saw one overhead-------it must have been Airforce One.
And there even was a Chicken connection to 9/11. With all the planes grounded, the airports had all these chicks to be shipped. So they trucked them out to all the local feed stores rather then let them die. My wife happened to be at the feed store when the shipment came in and the feed store was giving them away free with the story of where they came from.

I was on my way to work when my DH called. I remember the exact location of the intersection. Got to work a few minutes later and informed my co-workers (mom and step dad) and we watched tv for the rest of the day.

I was sitting in 8th grade homeroom when the announcements went off the TV. The teacher had stepped out of the room so the TV was left on. One of the kids cried out OMG! The towers!
A boy that was in my "pod" (or whatever yall call them nowa days) aunt was in one of the plains. He naturally was checked out as a few other kids.

I'm pretty sure it was probably just a skunk in the area.

Haha sorry I feel that story was a little far fetched... Buildings (Though not as big) fall in NY and other big cities all the time because of demolition crews... I doubt a horse that many states away would know anything. Good story I guess, just not realistic *shrug*
