Where will my free range chickens lay eggs?

I let mine free range but they comeback to the coop to lay their eggs. The boxes have fake eggs so they see where to lay their eggs. Even my turkeys come to their coop to lay their eggs.

My chickens are free range in my backyard. They have a coop inside of the run that they lay in every morning. I encouraged them to lay inside the coop by making sure the inside of the coop was clean (they don't like to lay where they poop). I also placed dummy eggs in there so they know that is where they are supposed to lay their eggs. After cleaning it and placing the dummy eggs (golf balls work too) you can make sure each chicken inspects the new laying box. Place them in the laying box or hold them up so they can see. Mine were very curious and started laying immediately when I provided a well concealed, comfy place for them.

When I introduced new pullets to the flock this interrupted their laying schedule and they temporarily started laying outside in the bushes until they got used to the new birds being there. If you don't have a designated area for them to lay, they will probably do this...

My friend's chickens are free range, and he said they are all over the place
It's like an Easter egg hunt every day

Free range chickens will lay eggs pretty much wherever they want unless you have nest boxes around for them. If you don't like where the nests are then take all the eggs and don't leave any. If you like the nest, leave one egg for them to keep coming back.

My hens made some nests under my house. It is kind of hard to describe but I can't close it up because it always seems like one is going broody under there! I think I have had 4 batches of chicks so far, one with two hens. One hen did it twice. I believe I'm at a total of 30 chicks from under there.

In the last four months. And that is surprise accidents from only under there alone!
