Where you buy chicken food?

It looks like a good product, just check the protein content. Should be any where from 16 to 20%. Just remember to feed grit and oyster shell to help with egg production.

Where are you located? I have never heard of Pen Pals chicken feed.

I feed Purina Flock Raiser and purchase it at TSC if it’s fresh and if it isn’t I get it at Picketts.

I order kalmbach from chewy.com.
Chickens like it and I don't have to deal with anyone. Perfect solution for me as i'm lazy and antisocial. :)
Wowzer! $$$$

I looked that feed up because I had never heard of it either. It costs $10 more/50# bag than the Purina I feed. And then the tax and shipping! Oh my. My DH would tell me to get a job to feed my chickens. :lau

Iv'e only got 11 so it isn't too bad and shipping from them is 4.95 if you get 50 bucks of stuff it is free.
By the time I get chicken food, cat food, and fish flakes i'm pretty close to that.
It it worth it for me just to avoid TSC our store is torture.:)

You’ve got a point there! Both TSC closest to me have terrible mgmt. And I will promise you they still have some June 2018 feed on their shelves. I’ve had to resort to having my DH pick some up an hour away. It’s pathetic. I’m gonna guess that most people around here must buy the local mill’s feed. It’s much cheaper but it’s not as good for the chickens.

I have 23 pullets/hens and 2 cockerels. And just the last two weeks hatched out 11 chicks, 3 with a broody and 8 in the bator.

There's someone local selling chicken feed for about $9 for a 50 lb bag, but I don't know if I can trust that it contains all the essential nutrients in order for chickens to thrive. So.... I stick to the Tractor Supply Store near here, but it's expensive! Like $18.99 for a 50 lb bag of grower feed. I think I might have to give the local feed a go because the prices of feed from the store is killing me!!

Most of the stores around me carry Tucker Milling feed. I went to our little grocery a few miles away and took a picture of its make-up. There was enough of a difference that it made me uneasy. I don’t know enough about it to know if a .35 +/- in a certain nutrient is detrimental. (That was a hypothetical number.) The only positive about the Tucker Milling feed is it is definitely fresh. They deliver once a week.
