Where's your Sign????

Love it!
It looks very friendly and inviting

Hi! This WAS my sign:
DSC04859.jpg

It was rather inappropriate (because I don't have cows!). I had a great sign I painted around the same time, with a Barred Rock hen that met an unfortunate end (kid/neighbor stuff when we first moved here).
I'd painted a fabulous new sign and hung it and didn't think anything else about it u n t i l ...
A pal was visiting and decided to 'back' into the parking space available and didn't see the new posts and sign --- she backed over it, and the mailbox next to it. She drives a dually diesel truck and was oblivious that she'd even squashed stuff (scary, huh?). I'm signless again.

I'de love to ask more, I feel like my eggs are worth more. BUT, we have other local sellers who only ask a $1.00 a dozen and If i'm going to sell them I'm might as well be competive....

I have WHAT in my yard? :

Whoa!! A buck 25????? I get $3.50!!! And I hit up the better off for $4! And they pay it!

Any time I get backed up with too many eggs I donate them to the local food closet. There's a lot of hungry people out there these days. If you don't have a food closet a local minister can probably point you in the right direction or take them to give to some one. We also have local police who usually know who's on hard times. They'll come by and ask for eggs for a family they know is hungry. They never lack for a place here!!

Very cool of you. For us the most 'spares' we get is maybe a 6 pack here or there, and I send those home to the In Laws... FIL has issued an edict... that those are eating eggs, not to be used for baking... which I found rather amusing.

Maybe some day we'll be able to do that sort of thing... one way I justified all those "someday" chicken plans... I can always donate the extras and be doing a good deed... it's community service chicken math... brilliant. But until we move from here we'll settle for sharing the wealth with family/friends... at least the ones willing to risk it on eggs that come out of a chicken's bum... Sis hasn't yet gone there, or Mom, or Uncle... bock bock bock.

Before we got our girls, I'd have jumped at the chance to get fresh SAFE eggs like these for 1.25... know FIL would too... that's a great price!

Note: Regular old white commercial eggs are going for .59c a dozen in the stores... Our girls were having a light spell, so I thought I'd supplement with some store bought... opened to check for cracks and there's poo stuck to several... EWW... opened another and poo AND feathers stuck to them... passed on that one. So, yeah, more than willing to pay 1.25 to have clean fresh eggs.
