Well, hmmm... I don't have any NHR's so that rules that out LOL... Okay so what everyone is telling me is that it just happens? Am I correct? I wonder what the scientific reason is behind it.
Something for me to start searching I guess. Thanks to all for the inputs!!! I just thought they were pretty. Thought maybe I would be getting them from a certain breed. Oh well, which ever one it is, she can lay them anytime. Think I will blow one out and shelack (sp?) it as a keepsake like I did my very first egg. DH thinks I'm crazy, but they make real pretty decorations.
Well, I'm new at this but I have 5 RIR's and they don't lay an egg as beautifully speckled as that. Some eggs have a few speckles, but nothing like yours.
Well, bad news, DH ate my egg!!!!!!!!!!!!! I guess after talking about it I should have went and grabbed it!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to wait for another. Well, at least I have a picture of it... but still not the same.
Hmmm wonder if "she" will lay another just as pretty.
My DH is proud of our first egg, and as eager to blow it and paint it with clear acrylic as I am. The egg will go on the shelf with the green glass chickens, of course!
No question as to who laid it, since we have only 2 Americaunas and Daisy has been a slut lately.
My DH is crossing into the chicken-side of things. (Is that like crossing over into the Dark Side?) He did a small happy dance
yesterday when we got our 2nd perfect little green egg. After we got inside he quizzed me to make sure I'd put it in a safe place.
He was upset that I said I was going to keep it safe for blowing out as well. He felt we should only keep the first one. I pointed out that life isn't perfect, and we needed a back-up.
So WindyOaks, you are only as crazy as the rest of us on this site
My DH keeps saying that I have taken his business adventure and made it into my pet project. LOL I think it like crossing over to the dark side for most men. All DH cares about is the eggs for eating and the meat. I have to laugh at him though because he has become... shall we say "gentler" and more excited recently with them all. He even allows "momma hen" in the house now and will not kick her out
And shoot... I told him to be nice or I was going to keep the first egg from all 41 hens!!!!
I think that has straightened him out a lil, but he still thinks I'm crazy, although he did start looking for the shelack lastnight when I made a comment about it. Said he would find it for me today
