A grey horse is born brown. But if you see two or three grey hairs in the eyebrow area, you can be sure it's a grey, and every year it will shed out lighter and lighter until by about age three there is no doubt it will mature grey. Or you can shave half of it, like I did, to prove to a doubtful spouse that you know whereof you speak.

Finally, a post I can understand! I too was born brown and am slowly maturing to grey
