I think .75" is the largest suitable for cockatiels.

Honestly, a whole inch is pretty excessive for all but the larger parrot species. My GCC has a .6" bar spacing which seems pretty appropriate. You don't want to end up with a broken neck on your bird or any of the other host of accidents that can happen.

I did have that thought earlier and it's a possibility. I just hate how hardware cloth cuts down on visibility.
