Saw that last night. The coon was rabid, hope the daughter and mom are ok. Guess the daughter got bit

I guess I mean, are they rare? Exotic? Difficult to breed? Delicate?

They're show quality calls, which means they're difficult to hatch and often need assistance. I believe the pastel color is more uncommon too.
Good quality calls in general can be expensive, and Mare got hers from a breeder that specializes in them.

My mom lives in Southern California in a good sized town - not in the hills, very urban. Coyotes are a HUGE problem. One of her neighbors was walking her dog and a coyote ran off with the dog. Other folks' dogs have gone missing. My mom has 2 little dogs, and she built what amounts to a chicken run on her patio so her dogs can be outside unsupervised when they have to go potty. And when she walks them, she tethers them to her waist so that if a coyote snagged one, it wouldn't be able to run off with it.

We have coyotes (though I have yet to see one) and the usual assortment of hawks, raccoons and possums in the neighborhood. We also had an eight foot alligator from City Park cross the levee and crawl 6 blocks through the neighborhood to the grammar school before being seen.
