Which egg collecting container?

For children, I would pick a basket sized for them. Large enough to carry the eggs, but small enough and light enough to not be awkward for them to carry. I would be inclined to let them pick out a basket that they liked and probably decorate it, too, just to make it extra fun. I like fun!

Any one that has been egg collecting for a while will know "never, never put eggs in your pockets" You will always forget and~ooops, lean on the fence to say Hi to the horse, bend over to pet the dog, reach to pick the tomato from the back of the plant, etc, etc, etc. All you can say is "ohh Man......" That being said, I still do it a few times a year! Gotta love this chicken stuff!

I used to do this. However, I actually bought a small egg basket from MPC, I think it was.... it's dark purple, a cloth weave with plastic lining. I love it.
It's this one, http://www.mypetchicken.com/catalog/Egg-Baskets/Egg-Basket-Pink-p200.aspx only in purple. At some point, I will use one of my many wicker baskets when the number of eggs a day becomes more than the small purple egg basket can hold (about 8 - 10).

When I was a Kid my grandmother would bell up her apron and put them in there. I don't ever remember her breaking any. We are going to use an Amish egg basket that my wife lined with a quilted lining she stitched up. Very plush and very soft and very girly, she will be collecting the eggs. If I do it I'll use the wire basket that is full of golf balls.

I never remember to take anything out with me so always end up putting them in my pockets or folded up T-shirt. I usually get distracted and forget about the ones in my pockets, so invariably break one or two before getting back to the house. Sometimes I lay them down somewhere outside and think of them hours later. I need to start using a basket.
