Ok, y'all. You know Ive posted Im buying another incubator since Im pretty unhappy with the LG not to mention that Ive read so many bad reviews for them I regret buying it. I have found on the Brinsea webpage they have their Eco 20 for 99.00 on sale< save 30 bucks> no turner. Ooooorrrr.........would you get the Genesis 1588 and spend the extra 20 bucks? Its 120.55 in Cutlers. Im torn between the two. Opinions?

I say this tongue in cheek - here we go AGAIN! You are gonna get so many varied opinions here, so all I can do is offer mine. I have the Brinsea Octogon 20 Eco with turner, and I love that thing. It is pretty much stupid proof. A little pricey, but then again so are the eggs that go in it!

We also have the Brinsea Octogon 20 Eco with the auto turner. We raise show quality silkies, so we want the best hatch rate possible. So far we have 100% hatch rate if the egg was fertilized. We love it. We have hatched probably 60 or so eggs.

i have to lg still incubators and get like 95% hatch rate ever time i have 2 of them, they work like a charm to me i have hatched 250 quail out of them and 80 chickens and 9 pheasants, 10 chuckars, and 5 turkeys. what problem are you having with the lg maybe i could help

Im having temps fluctuate to almost 104. It will spike to 103.8. It didnt do that last hatch. Im not sure how long it had spiked to that temp as it was 100.2 when I went to work wed but when I got home it had spiked to 103.8 so I called a freiind who also raises chicks from incubators and she is the one who told me to back the temp down a little which is where that post came from of me tweeking it a little here and there. I finally have it reading 100.2 again and they are in lockdown now. Hatch should be Sun or Mon. I hope. I just want to get an incubator that is worry free and I dont have to babysit it. Right now Brinsea has on thier website the Octogon Eco 20 on sale for $99.00. But for $20 more I can just get the Hovabator 1588 with the preset temp. Torn between two incubators<singing to the tune of Torn between two lovers> hehehe..........

Ugh, I have to chime in here. I am so frustrated with my LG.

I have GREAT fertility, but when it comes to hatching... For example, the other day a bunch of eggs were rocking and rolling and chirping. Two chicks hatched great, and the rest stopped. I just don't get it! I have been watching the humidity, temps, ventilation, etc. I was using my hovabator for the first 18 days and the LG as the hatcher... I was determined to get the LG to work, but I have tried everything I know of. I think the LG is going to be sold, or kept only "in case". Now I'm going to concentrate on getting the hovabator to work! But I think I'm just cursed in the hatching department:hit

I really hope I can get the Hovabator to work because I wanted to hatch some of my Turken mixes to hatch for the Chickenstock I'm going to in May. I love my NNs and wanted to share them with other people.

I have an original Brinsea Oct. 20, a 1590 and a 1588. My Brinsea is my least fav out of them all.....

I will say though that whatever you choose you can't go wrong with an electronic thermostat over a wafer IMO. Mine are ROCK steady, my hatch rates are near 100% and I can go out of town for the weekend without worrying that my temp is out of whack and killing my hatch!!! An extra $20 go for the Genesis. You won't be disappointed. I have a turned for my Genesis but don't use it. I prefer to hand turn, and I can fit more eggs in.
Good luck with whatever you choose. They are both good! Any I think anything is better than an LG!

I guess the votes are in. The Genesis 1588 is the winner. Looks like either the LG is being sold on Craigslist or maybe I'll keep it as a brooder. Personally, Im ready to put it on the burn pile.
