which one laid the pink egg? (edited with update on pg 2)

they'reHISchickens :

It's the EE.
Now I have a question for the OP: Are the eggs strong shelled and normal frequency? I am curious if the pink egg gene is related to poor eggs/laying.

Good question and I will watch the thread too. My eggsperience reports 3 eggs over a 10 day period all with normal thickness shells. Every 3 days? Will this improve?

OP: i think you're going to have to give her a year or so to get an accurate comparative feel for her laying ability. At least you know which hen she is!

Okay I'm going to have to crash the party and say your Production Reds (often called RIRs, but not really). Your "Americana" (actually an Easter Egger) is more likely to lay a green egg, and "pink" is often, in my experience, simply a pale brown with a slight pink hue to it. Both Barred Rocks and Production reds also do this. My one Easter Egger hen lays the same "pink" color that my Wyandottes do.

I have an EE and a BR and they both lay what look like light pink eggs so my opinion is either. I know BR's are supposed to lay light brown but mine sure looks pink!

uh oh, now what... I got a pink egg this morning at day break. At 12:35, I picked up another pink hue egg. Hmmm.

I have 3 EEs; one lays a definite green egg, one lays blue/green, and one lays a pink egg. My dominiques lay a light brown eggs, but my EE's pink egg is a different hue; more towards the pink spectrum.

I suspect your "Ameraucanas" are probably EEs.

Please post pics!! I am so curious now!

My bantam barred rock's eggs sometimes look "pink" but it's very pale pink. I want to see a bright pink one!

Me too! I'd love to see it. I have two EE that are about ready to lay. They keep going in the nest box. I'm dying to see their egg color. I have an Ameraucana laying and love the blue eggs and I have a Marans so I get the dark brown too. Ready for green and pink.
