Ha, I forgot about my coop of black Ameraucana's, so now...? The black color of the birds is a drawback in Alaska with long and dark winters but those are some very large and neat birds, who haven't begun laying yet.
All my birds have come from Triple D and I'm very happy w/all of them, only ones I wasn't happy w/were the RIR's that came to me last from another owner and I'm not sure where he got them. My original and only 8 hens were from him and I taught them not be peck on each other last winter, unlike their "sisters" I just butchered.
I thought last winter, the RI Reds were the color to have, warm and wonderful...its so hard to make a choice for only one...w/price of feed and all, banties are the way to go though.
