Which Roo?

Splash Ameraucana...more color chances for the offspring when crossed with other solid colors, blue egg genes, pea comb for PA winters. Ours watches over the black&blue hen horde of ameraucanas and rocks, along with our lavender ameraucana rooskidoodle.

try the calculator too, that will get ya going. http://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm#kipcalculator

may
be easier to sell pops on the Quail though

Wow! Beautiful birds!

I would recommend not having roosters - they eat constantly, tear up the pretty hens by standing on them any chance they can, and other petty crimes!

That being said, I have 3 roosters and 20 hens! 1 rooster is a disabled Araucana who lives under the apple tree during the day and I lock up every night. I also have a Silver Ameraucana over my 14 big hens and a Self Blue (Lavender) OEGB over my 6 bantam hens.

I am down to these 3 roosters from 17 I had at 1 point!

Buff Orpington! They're such a great all around breed. Meat, eggs, broodies.

Buff Orpington x Dominique = Black Sexlink
Roosters would be barred and hens would be colored like these...

Buff Orpington x Delaware = Red Sexlink
Roosters would be similar to silver columbian, hens would be similar to buff columbian.

Buff Orpington x Dark Cornish =

But I'm sure they'd be pretty!

I vote light brahma. I have a 5 month old cockerel who is a sweetheart. I can do pretty much whatever I want with him, my two nieces have their way with him (they've even dressed him up...), and he hasn't pecked at us, or flared his feathers, or any sign of aggression yet

.

Also, isn't he gorgeous?
