Night got up and stubbornly followed him. As they entered a quiet grove in the forest, she bounded in front of him, and barred the way. "No, you will not go. Where have you been? You always sneak out of the subject when I ask you. Look. Look here." She motioned to the grove of trees with her tail. "Remember this place? This was where we would tussle as kits. This is where we would sit together as apprentices and watch the stars. This was where we went the moment after we became warriors to celebrate. This was where I told you I was expecting Fire, our first kit!" Her eyes narrowed and she hissed the last part, "And now here you are, Mint. Standing on the same place, lying to me."
He flinched and looked around the grove. Lovely was standing there a bit away and turned to him. “MINT! What do you plan to teach me today?”

Lightshow pushed Ice away and ripped a claw through her collar. It fell to the ground and she buried it, pushing away her old life. "I vow to never return to the days of the twolegs!"
Ice's scarred face was flat and emotionless as a crude stone statue, not revealing whether or not this performance pleased her. "Very well," she said. "If all you say is true, I will accept it." Then, she added. "But don't expect respect from me. Even as an elder, you will have to earn it." She trotted back to the elder's den, brightening at Tangle's absence. "Wherever did the old bat go?" She asked a very bored looking Ripple.
Wolf had enough of waiting for Heron's response and took it upon himself to slip unnoticed into the distracted healer's den.
His ears perked when he saw Autumn had her head up. "Thank Tribemates gone before," he mewed with gracious relief and a broad smile parted his muzzle. "How are you feeling?"
At this new cat's entrance, Wind winked and slipped out of the dramatic and crowded mood that his uncle's den was starting to carry.

Lightning swished her now very ordinary looking tail with a hint of her former sass. "Oh I am quite pleased Heron is so optimistic of her recovery. But you have skirted the issue that interests me the most here." She slinked over to stand beside Autumn, seeming to just glide along with her tattered coat floating about her in some places. Her alarmingly pale nose and clouded eyes made her one large smear of white in the dim light of the den. "DO you love her? She lingered beside Autumn like a wraith, awaiting Wolf's response

Autumn shrunk back as Lightning came near to her. She trembled a bit in her pelt as she lay there, a combination of her dislike of Lightning, her weak body, a strong hurricane wind that was picking up, and her curiosity to hear what Wolf would say.
Uncomfortable heat swamped Wolf's pelt and his mouth dried at Lightning's blunt query.
What even was this odd feeling? Could his long relationship with Autumn really have evolved into something more than heartfelt friendship?
I'm just worried about my dear friend...and if not, am I even ready for this?
"We've been close since I was a kit and Autumn an apprentice," he murmured finally, but he was wishing he could've denied the strange white female with more force. He could feel individual furs along his spine pricking up. "I care about her and I'm worried"

Night froze, her eyes wide with shock.
"Mint--Mint, who is this?" She took a step back "You--you were teaching this kittypet?" Her eyes narrowed. "What else have you done? Is she your new--" The words caught in her throat, but she forced them out. "your new mate?" She spun and fled deeper into the forest, to scared to think what the reply could be.

Mint called out and ran after her. “Of course not! Wait I can explain!” He ran and ran waiting for her to slow.

Sickening heat ran through his pelt and his mouth dried at Lightning's blunt query.

Lightning looked dissapointed and sighed. "Well aren't you a noble one." She stepped in front of Autumn and spoke plainly, "I owe your friend Wolf a debt, he was quite valiant opening the trap for me." She saw a bit of something that could be dissapointmebt in Autumns eyes as well. But perhaps it was just pain she saw. She very well remembered a brave Tom who had led her on in her youth. She had fallen for his big sparkling eyes and his promises, but he'd left her with a belly full of kits alone. It wasn't like him at all, but still it happened. Lightning addresses Wolf over her bony white shoulder "Do not waste my gift." Then licks Autums forehead and walks out of the den. Instantly the wound in her chest is healed as though many weeks had passed. Lightning pauses in the entrance and sneezes, droplets blood spraying from her mouth and nose. Her chest burned like fire but she said nothing, and laid down to rest a few yards away.

Autumn was outraged at Lightning's boldness. Why did she have to come between their easy friendship and make things awkward? She put her head down with a dejected huff.

"Lightning?" She called in amazement. "Did you just--what---how..." Her sentence trailed off and she stared in amazement at her own blood-stained fur that had no wound. She noticed blood dripping from Lightning. "Are you okay?" She asked in an awed whisper.
