Lion had been out in one of the night patrols, and was unaware of the brewing storm until he woke with a loud obnoxious yawn, and a stretch accompanied by more noise. A raindrop fell from the den roof and landed squarely between his shoulder blades, nearly making him jump out of his skin. Leopard, who greatly valued personal space, found himself suddenly sharing a nest with Lion. Leopard groaned, and mewed patiently, “Honestly Lion, it was just a rain drop,” before pushing Lion off his back and into his own nest. Some of the cats who were still awake looked startled to hear Leopard’s deep mew, which was so rarely heard, but Lion was just disappointed that he wouldn’t be hunting eagles today.
