When I built the pen area I also wanted to not have a muddy pen, did that slogged through that with the big flock, I also wanted to be a little more secure having come home to carnage in the past... so I did my best to level out an area in my yard that already had a fence around it, laid out some garden boxes (which now have to have little fences around them) and loose bricked the whole area, then built the coop on top of a bricked section... nothing can dig under that and I don't have to slog through muck... got to weed and put together better mini fences around the raised flower/veggie beds though. Just maintance stuff. It has been nice not slogging through mud versus when I had to in the past. I do not do deep litter either disliked it from past keeping. The coop is cleaned regularly and the bigger brick area as needed... tomorrow is a cleaning day. Today is house chores.

I do deep bedding, when I finally clean it, it has the darkest most fertile soil ever; and the garden loves it.

Okay. Someone needs to post a LFWC egg. I got an egg today but the Cornish is sharing their quarters with some Marans. It's almost white and even as bad as hatchery marans can be in terms of egg color, I'd say they'd be darker than what I got.

Cornish eggs can run from light to dark color wise... the shape is what will make it stand out from the Marans.
They tend to be less "egg shaped" than others..... these are all white Cornish I plan to mail to a friend tomorrow...

TGP , LF White Cornish are so hard to come by,and NORMALLY so expensive that most people that can find them don't wish to make hybrids with them. They want to work towards the most beautiful birds they can achieve. I always think "Royalty" when I see a LF white cornish.

White Cornish egg prices are stupid high for any chicken. Much less a meat bird... Then factor in how fragile they are to ship and it's amazing anyone would buy them! Selling them on eBay made me feel like a bandit so I quit! This was the last egg auction I put up....
