Without saying which gender the pictured Polish chicken was sold to me as - - Is it a hen or a roo?

Depends on the age. I have a polish pullet that has a slicked back crest and wattles that size, but she is 7 months old.

depends on age right now it looks like a pullet/hen no saddle or hackle feathers.

Yes... I should have mentioned the age. Seven weeks old.

She/he was sold as one of a pair of blue polish "hens" (from the same hatch). Sadly, his/her friend died two days ago of an uncertain ailment. The friend had paler waddles and a very spherical crest. This guy/girl, however, has a more spiky crest, redder waddles, and struts like a roo. No crowing yet.

I guess time will tell for sure. Thanks for all of the responses!

If it is only 7 weeks old that is DEFINITELY a roo. Wattles that red would not be apparent until just before lay.

Good thing for you that he is not bearded. That would take longer to tell.
