Hi There!

I'm new to the site by way of posting, but I've been doing lots of research on here since I picked up my ISA Brown chicks from Tractor Supply in the Spring of 2016. I now have 10 - a mix of the ISA Browns, 2 Barred Rocks, 2 Leghorns, 2 RIR and 1 "mystery chick" from Meyer Hatchery that looks a lot like the ISA Browns, which I'm told are Sexlink hybrids. They're all between 4 and 5 months old. Some have started laying- only sure of the Leghorns being the two (only birds that produce white eggs), but I have some brown eggs, as well.

Today I noticed on one of my Brown girls, she has white earlobes. I looked around a lot, and it seems like I can't get a concrete idea as to what it might be. Favus maybe? Some others say that they've had their birds be completely normal with this. I'm also not sure if it has anything to do with laying. Her energy is normal, and she's eating and drinking just fine. Has anyone else dealt with this? Her ears aren't hard, and the don't seem to be peeling. The skin seems normal- just white.

I'd appreciate any ideas!

Your Mystery chick could be a brown leghorn. How's her body shape and stature compared to your WLH?

She seems to be a little rounder than the other two, but she does have a longer neck like they do, as well. I had no idea there was such a thing! Any ideas on the white ears?

The feathering that can be seen in these photos is not that of a brown leghorn. Can you get a photo of the whole bird?

From what I could see of brown leghorns, I don't think her feathering is consistent with that either. Here's a photo of her. Let me know what you think!

My 10 month old ISA browns have (and have always had) white earlobes. They still lay brown eggs and are perfectly healthy. The white isn't a disease. I have always assumed it was just reflective of what breeds were crossed to produce a sex linked hybrid (ISA brown).
