One of my one year old RI Reds just started laying white eggs. This just started about a week ago. Is something to be concerned about?

RIRs are supposed to lay brown eggs, so you don't have one. Can you post some pics?
I have 15 RI Reds. They lay brown eggs except for one that just started to lay this white egg. I will post pics when I get a chance.

Where did you get them? At a local feed store, a private breeder, or online?
they most likely had a little mix up and put a different breed in with your order...

I have two RIRs that lay really light brown eggs, which look pink, or almost white. Are you sure that it's all the way white? Pictures would be helpful too. Also, check the chicken's earlobes. Are they white or red? If they're red, your chicken is supposed to lay brown eggs, and she's either really out of it or the eggs are really light brown. If they're white, you don't have an RIR.

Brown eggs are white eggsd with a coating of brown spray paint added at the end. It is possible this bird is experiencinga glitch in the paint booth. It can also help to set the egg on a sheet of paper as often what looks white turns out to be VERY light creamy brown

These reds are one year old have been laying brown eggs for more than six months. There have been times when some were lighter or even tan. I thought my neighbor was playing a trick on me buy putting a white egg in the nest box from one of her chickens.

Maybe it's time to replace the brown ink cartridge. LOL
