Hey guys,

I've got two quail chicks 2 weeks old and I'm wondering what chest colours do the males get when they're white, so i know what to look out for as they start to feather. The other previous white one I've had was a girl but had almost a completely white chest, do the boys get brown on their chest or something and is it common for the girls to be plain white chested too?

Thanks.

Whites are not feather sexable. I'd have to see the Italians when they're at least 3 weeks old to be able to tell you if they're sexable by chest or by heads. I'm drawing a blank at the moment.

Here they are (2).

Right now I'm guessing that they're both male, but their feathers could change over the next few weeks.
One of them has now got some brown on his face, whilst the other is still white. One boy one girl?

I am not sure on those. I'm not 100% sure that these are feather sexable. If they are, it's going to be by head markings or beak. I think you're going to have to wait until six weeks to vent sex or wait until they crow or lay.
