I have a flock of 6 white leghorns who are all around 1 year old. I'm worried about and one of my girls. She's been displaying signs of being broody for around a week, staying in the nesting box all day and not eating and drinking, and if i take her out, she'll peck around for a minute or so and then go straight back to her nesting box. I'm worried that she's sick and not broody because of a couple of reasons:
1. She's not eating or drinking even if I bring her to water/food or bring water/food to her in the nest, usually they really love eating out of my hands, but she just wont eat. She's also interacting less with the other chickens.
2. She's a leghorn and I hear it's rare for them to go broody.
3. She's not aggressive when I try to touch her or move her or put my hand under her, which I've heard that chickens should be.
4. Today her excretion became runny and white, almost eggyolk consistency, and she excreted it twice after i picked her out of the nesting box to get her to eat.

Has anyone else seen this kind of behaviour? I'm getting worried about her.

If this is just her being broody, how can I get her to eat?

staying in the nesting box all day
Is she in there all night too?
The excretions don't sound good.
Is she panting?

What all and how exactly are you feeding?

Oh, and... Welcome to BYC @Selaris
Where in this world are you located?
Climate, and time of year, is almost always a factor.
Please add your general geographical location to your profile.
It's easy to do, and then it's always there!

I'm not sure if she stay's in there all night, but she is there when the other chickens get in for the night. She's not panting.

I'm feeding the chickens Watson & Williams 16 Percent Layer Crumble mainly, and some cooked rice and lettuce on the side. When I try to get her to eat, I have the crumble in my hands or in a container.

Thanks for letting me know! I've set it up now, I'm from Australia and it's winter here.

Would the broody clucking sound be the growl that chickens make? She's not doing that. I don't think she looks more puffed up either.
They do tend to do a growl/screech if you touch them or come near their nest, but I’ve had hens that do that even if they’re not broody and they’re just trying to lay. Typically when they’re broody they will be more puffed up and they make this clucking sound that’s almost like a ticking time bomb sound, if you look on YouTube I’m sure there will be a video somewhere and you can see if your hen is doing the same.
