White Leghorn, the forgotten breed

For hatchery WL, I don't think it really matters which one they come from. Just my 2 cents

I'm waiting for my 3 white leghorns to start laying. They are just about 6 months old, so I don't think it will be long. I've heard one doing an egg song

. I had a white leghorn hen once "Miss Prissy" . She was an amazing egg layer

Question for you.......What in the world are Trader Joe birds? The only Trader Joe's I know is a grocery store.

That's exactly what they are: hatched from Trader Joe's market refrigerated eggs - the fertile ones! I hatched 'em myself.

I love my white leghorns too. I posted about that last week because I kept reading negative posts on here. I will always have them as part of my flock. We should start a movement to save them from commercial egg laying facilities. Lol

I love my leghorns.. they are very social... always right there to say. My son keeps asking me "When are you going to hatch so of those white birds that lay those big egg?" LOL I just set 30 or so last week. I need a layer pen full of them.

I have a question... I have 4 in a pen and they only lay 1 egg or so a day... any ideas? I have another pen with 3 and I get 3 eggs a day. They are younger but not much. They did lay and kinda quit. I just don't get it..... needless to say I am hatching from the Laying Pullets
