No. In some breeds they feather more slowly than the pullets, but if anything, cockerels generally grow faster.

Some chicks get pasty butt. Keeping them clean is important. Sometimes it's a sign of other problems and sometimes it isn't. You can't really force chicks to eat more or to grow more. On occasion a chick won't make it because of internal problems or because it had a rough start. It's unusual to have 2 doing it but it is always possible.

For the evening I raised the food a little higher. I’ve been raising it bit by bit as they all grow and depending on how much they kick into it. This morning I woke up to both eating happily and no pasty butts. I’m hoping they are just slowly going to catch up. I’m adding probiotics to the water again. Any tips on making sure the little ones are drinking enough water?

They are kept inside and the brooder is 90-95. We trying to keep track of the temp all over a s much as possible. They all stay pretty spread out and active. We purchased the chicks from a retail store since we are just starting, so I’m not sure what hatching was like. They are about two weeks old and most seem to be following the growth chart I found. These two are similar size as when we got them. They seem active though.

How old are they? This is a bit warm. I never brood hotter than 90 the first week, and I lower it 5 degrees a week. Chicks can get heat exhaustion from a too hot brooder. Glad they are doing better today.
