White Orpingtons

we got some good ones coming along.. should have some white orp eggs again coming spring..right now we growing out some new birds for the breeding pens..Really love the whites on the farm..excellent additon to anybody who really loves orps

I have 3 white orp pullets just approaching POL. I got them as 'extra' eggs when I ordered some other kinds from a breeder. They sure are nice girls I am really enjoying them. They are so fluffy just like big white bunnies lol.

If you have good looking buff orpingtons cross the white with the buffs to get rid of the black in the shanks. The shank color is coming from the dermal melanin gene or the extended black gene ( or both) that is(are) found in blacks.

Black scales indicates a bird is extended black while blue shanks indicates a bird carries sex linked dermal melanin.

Buff male x white female = some color F1 ( if the whites are extended black then the F1 chicks will be black with red faces or have reddish brown down).

F1 male X F1 female = some white chicks with nice clean legs hatch plenty of chicks- you will be able to see the difference when the chicks hatch

nice pink shanks with whitish to grayish down

Wish I had room to work on another variety. These look wonderful. I know Christina Korfus was selling a few last year on the west side of the U.S. Is anyone else selling them out this way?

I know of several who have hatched chicks from Hincjc's White Orpingtons. These are excellent quality. There are more photos at http://www.hinkjcpoultry.com/

Here are some of Hinkjc's White Orpingtons:

WOW!!! Gorgeous birds! I've got a couple White Orp eggs coming in a few weeks/monthish... Can't wait for them. Now I have to figure out my pen situation. Chicken math will get you. lol...

Well there are still a few breeders in the USA that still have quality exhibition White Orps but this variety is a buyer beware one. There is also at least two strains of Imported white Orpingtons now also in the USA so quality should be improving. Just go to UOC forum and here on the Orpington and white orpington thread to check out some pictures.
