White quail

Ok I have raised coturnix quail for some time, jumbo and nothing else. Well, someone gifted me 2 hens and one too today. They said they were white coturnix. I am not sure they are not english whites? They are stated to be 12 weeks, they are laying and the rooster is crowing. But, these birds are smaller, much smaller than my jumbos. I have a set of 4 week old jumbo coturnix birds that are every bit as big as these are. Are these really coturnix or are they english whites?

They are probably English whites. But that is a variety of coturnix I believe.

The only white quail I own were Texas A&M.

Oh, ok. So english are a type of coturnix too?

Well I honestly never looked at the difference between English white and Texas but they are pretty birds and this is what I think my Texas will look like soonish! At least he said the eggs were Texas and the babies (some of them) are yellow with 1 spot like these guys, and some have no spots. I assume the spots will come later... I mean all Texas have some spots right? Or is it possible to get some completely white?

I dunno I’ve only had the larger normal Brown Coturnix (but I got a couple barred from my breeders lol they have a weird color pattern I have 2 now! Think both hens but not sure!?)

Anyway that’s all I got, nothing new to add LOL I love the dots lol

Probably coincidence but, the roo is the one with the spot.

It might be a coincidence or maybe it’s not who knows lol

Cause I am pretty sure the Texas can’t be sexed visually but maybe you got lucky lol you can tell who’s who!

I thought Texas were bigger than English? But they’re all considered coturnix.

I thought coturnix would be bigger too? I am thinking English white just based upon what I see? Like I said, these 12 week old birds are no bigger than my 4 week old Jumbo's.
