Hi,

I recently acquired some leftover hens from a chicken house that made hatching eggs. I am assuming they are white rocks (white bird/red earlobes). I have a Silver laced Wyandotte rooster and in the spring plan to hatch out some eggs from my mixed up flock to sell as live birds for meat. However, the "market" does not like pure white birds.

Does anyone know what a Slw roo over a white rock hen would make? I was worried they will be pure white since CCs are. Would they be sexlink? I think I have the hen and rooster backwards for sexlink.

Newish to chickens but have read a lot of threads trying to learn.

Thanks for the help.

Do you have a picture of the possibly white plymouth rock hens? If they are White Plymouth Rocks, the white is recessive, and the offspring will not be solid white.

How were you thinking the chicks would be sex linked? I don't think they would be, unless the hens are barred under the white. It is difficult to say what color the chicks will be. They could be dominant white, which would make the offspring white with flecks of color.

I was thinking pure white for one gender and speckled for the other. But not sure. I haven't seen many pictures from crosses with SLW roo.
But I agree from what I've seen, the hen has to carry the barring.

I've never seen Cornish cross with rose combs.

Idk what the heck those are. Bodily they look to me like Cornish cross. If that's the case I don't think you'll be able to keep them as breeders.

I've looked at the calculator. It all depends on which kind of white you choose. Not sure how you decide which white. White/white dominant/white recessive.
