Then he's not a splash. Its not possible for a black bird to produce a splash - EVER.

the mom was splash that's why he came out this color .
if that color is not splash please tell me what color is he so I can call it the color

Splash x black always produces blue. The birds in the photos you posted clearly are not blue - they *appear* to be splashes, in which case, they were probably not fathered by the black rooster (if the mother was a splash). Are you sure the mother is *just* splash? Are you sure the eggs these birds hatched from came from her? Is there any chance that you have another rooster that's a fence jumper? If you're POSITIVE that the father was a black rooster and that the mother was a splash hen, then there are more genes at work here than just Andalusian blue.

it was impossible for that hen to be fertilized from another rooster cos she was always kept in small coop by herself I was running a project combining color.
those two in those pictures are the product of the cross.
if you cross a splash blue with a black.
black will be more dominant in the fuse
but that not necessary means that all the chicken from that cross will be blue, you will get splashs, blues and blacks .
but in white splash things work different
colors in chickens don't work so simple like
when you mix to liquid colors ,if you mix black with white you'll get a firm gray.
you basing your conclusion working with andalusia genes my hen wasn't andalusia

Is it possible the black male was carrying the recessive mottling gene or exchequer. That would explain both the outcome and the lack of blue color to the splashed offspring.

now that you mention it could be possible since some sumatra breeders mix their blue with black or splash
my rooster was from cacklehatcherry.
my hen was from a friend who runs with whites and white splash games.

ok i misunderstood what you said, i thought you said splash but you said white splash. your rooster is splash but with dominant white.

i doubt that, the reason the rooster doesnt look like a normal splash is because he has both dominant white and splash in him, it is not mottling. here is my rooster who is a red columbian with dominant white:

as you can see the dominant white has a similar afect on red, but it is not mottling.

Howdy brothers and sisters,

From what I've read about them, I think I have some pretty good hatchery birds with nice dark faces and long tails. They've still got a lotta filling out to do though. What do you think of them?

I originally got these birds for a black chicken project I have in mind. But after discovering White Sumatras, I think I may go in that direction. I think a Black chicken with solid White feathers would be extraordinarily beautiful. I'm hooked on fibromelanism in birds. Still learning.

So how do I get White Sumatras? Sports? How often do they occur? Black Sumatra/White Phoenix cross? Or Black Sumatra/white Yokohama cross? Any other ideas?
