The only sport we watch with any regularity is NFL and NCAA football. and we can watch on our computer (any game we want to watch) through First Row Watch.

I must admit, I watch the ball games.

I love the Jacks Links commercials that feature Sasquatch. Their newer commercials fall flat. No Sasquatch, no humor.

Last year during the World Series, it seemed like the signal was jammed. It made me so mad, I wrote a nasty letter to Cox. My wife wouldn't let me mail it. She is so scared. Probably that is why we still have those darn Holy Rollers and home shopping network still on our bill.

Well, now CNN is crying because some footballer beat the bejesus out of his women. Well, in some subcultures in this country, that is a customary occurrence. Sad, but true.

Now, for some reason, they are blaming the NFL for this. I can't see the reasoning there. Is Chevrolet responsible when one of its line workers beats down a woman? No, and the union wouldn't let the company do anything about it if it is off company grounds.

Some sectors of our society need to take responsibility for their own actions. They need to arrive at that Pogo moment. Things will never get better as long as they blame others for their problems.

On the NFL issue. It is my opinion that professional sports should exclude anyone with a criminal record. Period.
The cheerleaders are held to a higher moral code than the 'players' for a fraction of the pay.

Just how could our judgement calls tell the sports industry to run their business? Should we even attempt to? What right do we have to tell anyone how to run their business?

If we excluded those with criminal convictions, there would be precious few playing. Could we morally tell Chevrolet to fire that line worker?

What would be the result? Another person on unemployment and another family on the social welfare system.

Or... possibly... youth with a dream of 'going pro' that learn to be responsible, control their emotions, etc because getting arrested means that their dream is over.
I didn't say anything about Chevrolet. Or any other profession for that matter. There are several occupations that you can not get hired into if you have a criminal record. If your dream is to become a rich and famous idol to thousands then why shouldn't that come with a few simple 'strings'? Lilke behave yourself. Act like an adult. Mind some basic maners. Don't hurt people or take things that aren't yours. MOST professional 'players' are truly good folks. I'm just saying that it should be a requirement. It IS a game after all - and there ARE rules - living like a responsible adult should be one of them.
If that's too much to ask, they could always become used car dealers... or lawyers - lol.

Oh, also - since when did following the law become a judgement call???? Don't break the law or don't play. Simple. No judgement call needed.

Sorry you didn't get my analogy relative to employer employee relationships, that being the Chevrolet situation.

Still, I do not think we can blame the NFL for the non work site actions of its employees. The employee is responsible for his actions, not his employer.

Why let them be used car dealers or lawyers ? Why should we allow anyone with a criminal record to have any job ? Why is it you only want to exclude some jobs ?

Dennis, there is a movement afoot to allow convicted felons to vote. Then again, there also is a movement that wants to let illegal immigrants to vote. Seems like it is driven by the same political party.

It looks like the goal is to make this country a one political party country. Reminds me of Mexico years ago when people would sell their vote for a bag of cement or a good cigar. Well, not always a good one.

In Arizona, we have a "clean election" system. Candidates sign papers and then they get public money to fund their campaigns. This was because one party never could get donations from their people. It was the party of take, not give. It was all promises and no delivery.

It seems like nobody follows the rules, and as long as it is the party favored by the newspaper, nothing is said.

I can't decide if it is worth the cigar.
