Whiting True Blue & Green Questions

Thank you, just want to see some colored eggs. I've had brown egg layers in the past with a couple of EE/greens. Will be interesting to see what colors I get with these. What amazes me is they do not like MW and I purchased a 5# bag. Never had chickens not like MW Been testing them, so far eggs is their delight

Love these girls, they're not stand-offish as I've read. WTB/Muff is the friendliest, 1st in the order. WTB/Blue is very calm, friendly, thinking she's 3rd in the order. WTG/Fawn was the most stand - offish although she's not running & comes up to me now, thinking 2nd in the order. WTG/Red is very cautious still, thinking she's last in the order. They're great & really like them but 18Wks & waiting ....

Straight comb = WTG/Red
Front = WTB Grey

WTB = Muff

WTG = Fawn was Speckled as it was more a splash when young & thought to be a cockerel. Comb/wattles the reddest at this time

I'll be honest. I have a mixed flock and so far my only layers are my whiting's.

@alexisrambles Thank you. If I recall you mentioned your Whiting started laying at 5mos? Have you any current pics of your girls?
the color variation I chose from my girlfriends order from McMurray ... 2WTB & 2WTG. I've read at how "flighty & skittish" the breed was but don't find that so true. Perhaps it's the "strain" of the breed? Think one person got their birds directly from the Whiting Farms. I'm sure McMurrays is "watered down" some, having read the color of the eggs not as expected (blue). At this point I don't really care, just love these girls

Not all of them, but here they are!!
So I find my whiting's aren't as a rule over affectionate. They're curious, love to fly, and can be very high energy. My eggs look great so far. Here's two days of them!

They are pretty too & nice eggs. I don't mind that mine aren't laying yet but am looking forward to seeing what color eggs I get. The pic of the first one, love that dark coloring. The straight combs are suppose to be WTG whereas the pea comb WTB ... Is that black (male) one a Crevecoeur or a Polish? He's got that iridescent coloring, so pretty.

He is a Creve! Nice eye!

Ruthy (the dark hen) is actually the top hen of my coop. She is a sweety and will fly into my arm if I give her food lol. I am having good results from the TBs ... Ruthy lays that khaki green. It's not as bright as I'd hoped but still pretty. I may go after fathenfarms' OE breeding project. She seems to get reliably EMERALD colors

Farmer guy told me that they are crossbred somehow with leghorns I guess he's the first chickens to have white earlobes but yet lay colored eggs this is putting a whole new spin on the chicken world I have a couple True Blues but they're still getting accommodated to my flock so they're kind of running hiding and being really flighty and annoying so I might have to get a couple more to even them out.
....ahhhhh the chicken life

@chkncrazy Yes, they are crossbred Leghorn + ? There's a WTB and WTG, "B" laying "blue" eggs while the "G" laying greenish. I have noticed the white ear lobes, in the morning will check if the B & the G . Mine are 20wks old today, the WTG weighing 3.5# & 4#, while the WTB are both 2.75#. I agree they are a bit "flighty" but not as bad as I expected. They don't like being caught but once caught the WTB settle better than the WTG. I do end up chasing them around in their enclosure when I want to do checks. However if I just hang out in their enclosure, they come up to me & working on the petting. Not lap chicken material but I like them, color variation & personalities, the WTB calmer than the WTG.

How many do you have? Did you integrate "See but no touch"? I'm thinking it's the Leghorn in them that makes them "flighty" and not sure getting more will settle them down.
