My first whiting chicks were a so skittish, freaked out every time I got close. These are with Marans in the brooder and they seem to keep them calm.

Out of my 9 whitings, there’s 4 or 5 that are very friendly and always underfoot, and then there’s 2 that I have a hell of time trying to put back in the coop. If I make a move towards them they explode away.

Most of mine were like that, but I didn’t spend much time with them. The Marans seem to keep them calm.

Right now I have blue/black/, wheaten, and black copper I just hatched. I do wonder if I can use the blue or splash Marans to create blue wheaten.

The whitings have a sorta extended pea comb, I wonder how that will look when crossed to a single comb marans. Probably stay like the extended pea comb right?

I would imagine. I like the pea comb, way better in cold winters.
