Who all shows their dogs?

Thanks everyone for their help w/the Gordons. There are a few breeds we are considering...I have a local Vizla friend whose oldest grump went to Wetminster a few years back, so I am considering one of those too as they get along exceptionally well w/my danes. I just want to make the *right* choice as it is a lifelong commitment and all. THat's why I'm trying to get other's input on their breeds.
As far as tracking I've really thought about doing that w/my show dane girl. SHe LOVED agililty, but was shot in the shoulder so she can't articipate in it anymore, and once she gets her Ch. I really want to have something else to get her a title in.
I've also thought about trying to get herding dog titles w/my danes in the future b/c that's just never done and thought my lines might stand out a bit

Tervs should not be shy. Mine are very social (to a fault). I would say temperments will be somewhat similar to a GSD... I usually tell non-doggy people they are between a Border Collie and a German Shepherd Dog (but better than both

). Unfortunately, like any breed there are some poor examples of temperment out there... but there are a lot of good ones too.

My 2 are definitely "what can I do for you" dogs. But then, that's what I was looking for. They are both workaholics, and live to do their "job." My female in particular can be creepy smart. She is forever finding things on the floor to bring me (bottle caps, pencils, straw wrappers, etc) and giving them to me with a "Here, I think you dropped this" look on her face.

Tracking: I usually try to track 1-2 times/week. Should track more. I think it probably took about a year of my inconsistent training (I don't train in the rain... or if it's too cold... or too hot... or I'm tired...) to get my girl ready to certify. Now I just need to get into a tracking test around here!

Video of my girl doing protection at a seminar last year:

Obviously, she's not ready to trial... hehe. But you can see her enthusiasm. The german shepherd people are laughing at her in the background because she is 38lbs of pure terror.

Gosh Id'd love to have a dog who cleans house for me! Mine are goo enough to eat cereal after the kids or dropped eggs...but if it's not food...that's where it ends...unless of course it's a much cherished shoe or kids toy...but we all know how that ends.

That's a great video...and I love the accidental foray into the gallery.

Her bark is hilarious...sounds more like a scrappy terrier than a kick-butt Terv!

I got into showing very briefly. I grew up with my Mom and grandparents doing it and always thougt I would enjoy it. And I did for a little while, the turn off for me was the politics. I couldn't afford a hired handler so I just called it quits after a few years. I never got my grump finished. I have Springer Spaniels. Love them, but the grooming it just too much now.
My mom showed Bearded collies, great dogs, too much hair.
My grandparents showed German Shorthaired pointers and Bernese Mt. dogs
They gave us the most beautiful Shorthair in the world ( I kid you not ) to show, but Mom ended up having a late in life baby instead, but she was the best dog ever and when these guys go, I'm getting a shorthaired pointer again. They need to release energy, but they are so loyal, willing, great with kids and the grooming is well, easy! I just love them and always will.

There's so many out there to choose from it's hard to pick one.

I love the look of the Berners, but had done alot of reserch into the Swissies b/c of the grooming issues w/Berners. We have also consideres GSPs b/c my husband thinks they are excellent but I have never been around one to have an opinion. Really, I have researched darn near every breed at one time or another. The grooming is such an issue and b/c of the Tx heat I don't want a dog w/alot of coat to be bothered w/b/c traditionally I would want to shave it down (Pyrs for instance) and when showing you just can't do that unfortunately.
He also likes the Brittanys and I have interest in Tollers.
The little PBGV John Wayne (I think that's his name) that is in all kinda of ads everywhere is SOOO adorable! I just want to grab him up & cuddle the heck out of him

I am about to start showing my dog seriously. I never thought I could show him...thought dog shows might be like Halter Horse shows...no scars. My male has a scar on his left shoulder where he was attacked as a pup. A momma dog he played with every day grabbed him the night she had her pups (hadn't had them just yet). I would say my breed is what you are looking for...no grooming (short hair, minimal shedding...compared to my pet Rat Terrier), guard instincts...sorta...they have a look that most people are afraid of, except those that know and love the breed! They are big teddy bears. Great with kids. Can have issues with other dogs, but if socialized with them and other animals as pups tend to be ok.
