Who can tell me what this spot is?

I'm new to chickens and four of my ladies just started laying last month. All the eggs have been pretty normal looking until this one I cracked open today while making a cake. I know all eggs have the white disk, like the one here on the left, but what is the big blobby thing on the right? It kind of looks like the iris of a human eye. I poked and prodded it until the yolk burst, then looked through the mess for anything that might have been solid, and chucked it in the bowl with the cake batter. I did use photoshop on the picture to try and make it clearer.

Both look like the germinal disk where the chick would grow from. Should only be one, but weirder things have shown up in eggs. Always crack eggs in a separate bowl unless you like surprises.

I always crack them in a separate bowl just incase.

Agreed, it looks like the egg started development.
