My 16 week old Easter Egger named Maggie is literally “that friend” of her flock. She’s not the top girl, but she’s not the bottom either. Out of my whole flock of 13, she’s probably the most entertaining one of them all. Even when she was younger she was that same way. Before they stayed outside, we would take them to the run that we built to let them peck & scratch. When it started getting into the evening time right before the sun starts setting, Maggie would squawk her head off until we brought them back inside. You couldn’t even have a conversation because of how loud & constant she was. Trying to take a picture of certain chooks? Maggie photobombs it by walking, or usually running, through. Hear a squawk? There goes Maggie, darting & weaving through her flock mates. Trying to feed berries to everyone? Maggie comes & snatches the berry then swallows it whole. She’s usually the first one to run up to us at the run if we or the cats & dogs are doing anything around it. Just staring & investigating. Her flock mates get after her a lot of the time especially during treats. I always make sure to give her a little extra, just because she’s so sweet & I love her. She literally acts like the world is about to end the way she runs around, always in a hurry. That’s just Maggie & I wouldn’t want her any other way.
