Who else is at work right now? & what do u do? & have u been profiled?

I'm a laid-off 4th grade teacher, turned golf exec. I was laid off and lay-waid into "helping" my dad run the company, now I handle the books and do admin stuff from home, he does the sales and deals. My husband works for his associate, and is discussing being made partner, so he's got full flex time, and I work from a laptop overlooking my garden.

I'm as "city girl" as you can get, today it's cherry red alligator stilettos, a short black miniskirt, plum blouse and pearls. Mr Saddi is recieving his company car, a convertable, next week.

I am a hairdresser and going to school to be an art teacher. DH works for DHL for now and has gone back to school for social work. We aren't country, but we aren't citified either. Right now we live in a little town, but it's surrounded by suburbs, lest you think my town is in the country. Most of my family thinks I am nuts for having chickens. I remind my mother that her mother had chickens. She always counters with the fact that my grandmother had a farm. Bah, don't sweat the details! My girls love the chicks and my DH is getting over his fear of being pecked to death by chickens, a nightmare from his youth. He even cleaned the brooder out for me yesterday!

The people on here are really from all walks of life, huh?

Oh and Saddina, nice shoes!

The term that was used on you makes me very, VERY angry.

I HATE that term....

At work, most know that I have chickens, but only a select few have seen my "Shrine to Chickendom". It's where I have all things chicken in my living room and kitchen. Chicken pillows, chicken curtains, chicken decor EVERYWHERE.

I'm a nurse, and I have computer access at work. (Nice DSL at work, crappy satellite at home!)

My co-workers are all now most interested in my little hobby-farm, and ask to see the days' eggs and rave about the colors. Funny, because before the purdy eggs, they didn't seem too interested. Now, they are asking all kinds of questions about breeds, egg colors, and even history of heritage breeds. It's been fun, exciting, and a great educational experience. I work the evening shift, and when the night shift comes on they too come looking for me to see if I saved them any colored eggs. (A few are even building chicken coops now!)

Wet back? Hillbilly? Redneck? Crazy chicken lady? Hmmmm, I dunno ....

I'm just a nurse that loves her chickens!

I am known as the chicken lady (my husband adds crazy on the front of that). I am a homeschooling mom who works a couple months out of the year as an after- school program evaluator. My husband is a retired firefighter/paramedic. We are in the city, but really should be country people. We have had goats in the past and currently have a couple garden plots and bees. I milk a cow at a local farm a couple times a week and use that to make butter, yogurt, and soon; cheese! I also do urban mushing with my dogs.

By day I'm a Facility Services Manger for a global company (we handle auto claims for most insurance co's). My job is to manage the building and hire the work out to be done. Some work I do myself, but there are times when I have nothing to do. It's part of my morning routine to hop on BYC.

At home, I'm just... me. I was raised on a small farm and learned all aspects of home construction in the family business. I do some art work on the side. I used to work my dogs in protection sports and obedience and was a dog breeder (Cane Corso Mastiffs) but have taken a hiatus from the dog world. I'm trying to become more self sufficent in raising my own food and slowly digging out a small farm on my 11 acres of paradise!.... I don't mind terms like Gentlelady or Gentleman or hobby farmers, to describe what most of us are doing... but I don't like terms to describe anyone in what I consider a derogitory fashion, including redneck, hillbilly, wetback and a few other choice words...

Hi,
i go online while at work allll the time. I am a gate/ticket counter customer service agent for Delta airlines for the past 12 years. I love my job. despite 2001 september incident, we are still a strong airline.
I have a job/benefits and for that i am thankful.
The pay after serving many years is very good, I could not find another job anywhere else making as much as i do, and slacking off here on byc.
I am known as the chicken lady at work, and everyone wants my eggs.....
there is such a diverse group of us eh?
have a nice day everyone!

I am a retired police sergeant who now lives in the woods with lots of critters. Many of my friends and family laughingly call me a redneck from the hills ~ I take it as a compliment! I am happy in my retirement ~ the only thing that could make it better is if we could find a 10+ acre farm to "increase the herd".
