Who else is getting chicks tomorrow at TSC??

I got 10 new 'red' pullets. A mix of 3-4 different red colored chickens the sign said, so who knows.
Lady said they will get other breeds, bantams and ducks all throughout May!!
Gawd, I'ma have so many chicks come June!

Anyone know the breed?

I don't know where you are in Ohio.....but the little feedstore here in West Sunbury Pa gets pullets from Mt Healthy. The name is Zanella Milling and they say they will be getting them in around Easter.

Then again......last year TSC kept getting shipments in for several weeks, so maybe they will get pullets soon.

Our TSC told me yesterday that they would not actually have chicks in until Wednesday. I had a hunch...so I stopped by, again, today and they had fuzzy butts! Sure, I hear peeping from my incubator, sure I just sold my youngest chicks last week...but TSC had Cornish Rocks! I had been wanting to raise some meat birds...so I bought 4. Also two EEs... : )

I will be checking in every 2weeks or so for the different breeds....
I got 10 reds...I'm pretty sure I will end up with 10 each time! Then again...if they aren't pullets, guess I will go with trios or quads of each that I like... Hi, I'm Klaudia and I am a chicken addict! hehe:p

Southern Ohio - Local stores may still get some in

Well, I came home with 7 little EE chicks...all different colors

I wanted to wait until they got everything in, but I really wanted some more EE's, and these were some really cool colors

I will post pictures tomorrow. They are all sleeping nicely under their heat lamp with full bellies.

I do plan on going back on Friday to get more once all of the babies are in

Hubby said I can only get 2 more..due to space in the coop..errr..lack of...

I said BUT its not completely built yet...he said NO NO NO lol...
he said unless I plan on butchering some int he fall...do not get more...

humph...
I told him "But I dont have any white egg layerssssssss" thats how I got him
to agree to 2 more..as long as they are white layers...

Roos; most are getting butchered in the fall...he only wants one roo for now..

That being said; stupid question time:

Can all chickens be used for meat?? obviously not the ones that have been laying for years..they'd be tough
but the roos...any can be used right? I dont have to have a meat type one right??

sorry for the REALLY stupid question..
