I'm south of Columbus, between Circleville and Chillicothe. They both have TSC stores, I checked them both of Ameraucanas, neither store had those. They call them Ameraucanas but I have some from the hatchery and they are really just Easter Eggers (EEs), which they are my favorites because they come in so many colors and some will lay eggs that are blue, some a shade of green or blue/green and still others will lay pink or cream color - kind of a off brown, depends on the parentage. Makes a real pretty egg basket, especially if you have a few brown or white egg layers in the mix. . Easier to name hens that don't look alike too.

Picked up the last 6 Silver Laced Wyandottes today.

They looked so lonely.

Now we have 38 in the brooder, going to be upgrading and adding on to the existing Brooder.

Ah-oh............

Interesting....using sand for bedding...have you done that before and how did it work out?? Have never seen that!

I couldnt resist went to my local TSC and as I approached the chirps I heard one employee saying to the other...we have muffled muffled chirp chirp sick chicks. UGH. Same as last year Im sur at least at my store. Well I looked in the bins (OMG have control!) and there were poppy butts in most of the egger breeds. There pullets were mixed in with the st. runs. Breeds not marked. (tho anyone with chicken smarts can tell a BR from a RIR...tho this year they are mixing all the reds together (sex links, NHRs, RIRs) No Cornish rocks..thats what I went for. But I lost control and scopped up the only 4 cochin bantys there with no poopy butts. HEHEHEHE (addiction is terrible...I have 100's and 100's but those cute chick faces...in the case of my tsc its more of a rescue mission! lol) And I made a sale to a lady wanting to by some eggers but was too confused and scared by the poppy butts to buy theirs. So for grins and giggles I strike up a convo with the check out gal...same one who was there last year...I say ...so what hatchery are you getting your chicks from this year?? The year before last it was Ideal and they were great birds. Last year it was anybodies guess and they were AWFUL. Shes says I dunno...I say Mcmurry, Ideal, Cackle??? (God help us all if its Cackle) and shes says she doesnt know...came to work and there were chicks. I say..so what day are you going to get in your chicks. (usually its a Weds) She says..I dunno they were supposed to be her Monday (Monday chicks are usually McMurray but their prices are so high anymore). I say are you going to get in the cornish rock. Yep You guessed it...I dunno. Then she says,,,,these chick days are sooo messed up. UGH So WTG TSC...sick chicks day one, dead ones in the bins unremoved (dead chicks happen, dont leave them there all day to ferment!) Males mixed up with suppossed all pullets. Chick Days are going to be FUN this year. Good luck folks...if you dont know about chicks and you want one from TSC take someone with you who KNOWS about them or you might end up with what you did not indend to buy....have fun but BE CAREFUL and use common sense. And DONT buy poopy butt chicks..it means that they are really stressed chicks!
