Came home from work, and I had 5 chicks! 2 banty frizzled cochin, a giant cochin, the Birchen, and I think a Welsummer. Woohoo! I will take these chicks out tonight, spray bottle handy. Another Blue Splash Maran or Birchen (can't see the egg mark well) is pipped.

Im so sad.. its going on day 23.. and Nothing! - we candled them a few days ago, and there was deffinite movement, I just dont understand!

Between the two batches, I had a total of 17 eggs that looked "normal" on the 18th day. As of now, 13 of those have hatched leaving me with 4 more to go. 3 of those 4 weren't due until Wednesday anyway. So far so good. I have 1 egg left that was due to hatch on Sunday. The others hatched 1 and 2 days late this one is going on 3 days late now. I moved it over to the other incubator so I'll leave all 4 eggs in there until Saturday. Neither of those 4 have pipped yet. If nothing happens between now and Saturday I'll assume they're no good. Good luck to all the rest of you! What's going on in your bators now?

Did I say I got a tiny Showbird? It was the oddest thing--I somehow got a Silkie egg mixed in with my little EE's, and when it hatched out I was so surprised! I even told the man who sold me my EE eggs that a Silkie roo had gotten in with his hens! (He doesn't have any Silkies.)

I felt like an airhead.

What is sort of sad about this is that I had these eggs in the Genesis to hatch, and I had put the other Silkie eggs in the LG. Those are the ones that all died in the shell. It looks as if I had left them in the Genesis they might have lived and hatched.

Anyway, my one little surviving Silkie Showbird is cute beyond words. MORE! I want MORE of them.
