Who else is setting... I wanna see pics!

Wow - need to show that cabinet bator to my hubby. We have some solid wood cabinets that we removed and are sitting in our garage. I think one of them would make a nice bator.

I think he would have a caniption fit though if I hatched that many eggs at once.

I will get some pictures tomorrow of the broodies with the chicks - its real cute.

The broody with the 7 chicks that are around 6 weeks old left them in a huddle on the floor and decided to roost tonight without them. Only one chick made it up on the roost with her

They look so lost without their mommy.

Baby oil worked wonders with the fly strip and she only lost a few down feathers. She is oily now and will probably collect some dust. Better than the fly strip. I have the feeling that she was trying to eat some flies on it and pulled it down.

Oh, I'm so jealous. I was going to get the r-com (standard model) and then couldn't justify the price... it IS in my future though

congrats on the great hatch. Your Sussex hens are gorgeous!

Well, ok...let me see...In the last pic, silkies and a black tailed white japanese...

I've also hatched...Blue Andalusians, Golden Lakenvelders, one Barred Rock, Cochins, Buff Orps, Salmon Faverolles, Sizzles...I think that's all the breeds so far...

Unfortunately one has since passed on.

But I have a lone one left - hope to add a few more to the flock next spring.

LOL have you LOOKED at cbiblis's Incubator thread????

Go look. He's making a small one of hardwood, 96 eggs - it's practically a PERFECT model between the toooo small Brinsea (for me - I hate a limit of 40 eggs or 20 eggs) and the over large huge cabinet 300-700 egg incubators. And small enough to be house furniture - he'll do custom COLORs

Pick your thermostat... - so very customizeable. Chris is an out of work Master Carpenter. What he's doing is good stuff. I'm starting to save NOW and I have a cabinet bator and Darthbator.

-- On a hatching note -- two of the three eggs hatched out perfect little Delaware chicks, the first two purebreds YAY. They're very cute, pics in a bit. Baby B is still drying.

The suspicious third egg - had a crack I hadn't seen in it (very dark egg) and went bad, as in what's that smell bad. Got it out in time... priceless...

The three Sizzles look good, about half of the Seramas look good. We'll see, he's bringing me more serama eggs today...

I go on lock down tomorrow. Last night I had a temp peak. I hope I caught it in time. I leave the house for 2 hours and see what happens. It was 102. The temp has been staying between 100 and 100.6. I had added water before I left maybe I had the water to warm. I always make the water warm before I put it in there. But I don't think after about 3 hours it would have made the temp go up that high. I sure hope it didn't hurt the chicks.

Pagan - here are some older chick pictures. These are three birds I am thinking of keeping. The second black one is a roo and not sure on the other two. I need a smooth black roo to go with my sizzle girls. They are 7 weeks old.
Walkswithdog - feel free to chime in

Black chick #1 ( I think girl, but the one I wish was a roo)

Black chick #2 This one is definately a roo:

Blue chick. I want to keep this one but it has a straight comb and even less crest than the other two:

Last but not least a gratuitous picture of Honey trying out our new cabinets (she was stuck)
