Squatted ONE DAY and then eggs the next????? My pullets have been squatting for almost 3 weeks and NO EGGS yet!! I can't stand it! Especially since I thought it was supposed to be like what you said, one day squat, and then POOF! Eggs!!

My other chickens didn't do that. They squatted for about 2 weeks first. It's soon!!!

My 9 month Barred Rock FINALLY laid a while ago and is laying nearly every day.

HOWEVER!

I have an Easter Egger who is 11 months old on the 28th of Feb, and she has not laid an egg yet... Holding out on me! LoL. Wondering if that's a record, 11 months...

I have 8 little RIRs who are almost 19 weeks old. In the past 2 weeks, the combs & wattles are getting larger & redder & they are making much much more noise than they ever have, They're also getting a little friendlier. They were always pretty standoff-ish, didn't want to be touched, much less held. Now, they actually let me pet them. And I had an actual squat from one yesterday!! We are so looking forward to eggs.

Here's my take from today. I now have 5 out of 6 chickies earning their keep (although only 3 paid their rent today). The speckled egg is from is my newest layer, who had been squatting for a month before laying. I think I need to have a talk with my last hold-out.

Here's another picture of the eggs currently in my fridge. I thought I had more brown ones, but I guess DH ate them all for breakfast (totally ruining my work of art!)
