Who else is waiting the impossible wait?

UGH all of mine are 17 weeks except for the silkies they are a couple weeks older and no one is laying yet

Still waiting on my first egg. I ended up with mostly roos but I do have a number of pullets out there. BR, RIR, buff orp, black australorp, silver-laced Wyandotte, and silkies. They are all 5 months old now. About 22 weeks?

I've had all these breeds and others. I generally had eggs from production birds by 16 weeks, and most others by 18 weeks or so (except the buffs at 22-24 weeks and silkies even later).

I've been out of eggs for days now and I keep HOPING someone will start. I'll probably buy more eggs tomorrow though.

I guess it's the hot weather and/or time of year. Usually I start them later so they come into lay around September. I hope these girls don't wait till then. I just had to dry off my milking does and my dozens of tomato plants are producing well but seem to be ripening slowly. I want more free groceries, LOL!

my leghorn is older by a couple of weeks from the rest of my flock and looks as though she might be ready to start laying I don't mean to hijack your post but what do i look for? Does the rooster mounting her have anything to do with it?
when should I put the nest boxes in?

Add me to this list. I have five who will be 19 weeks next week. My others are 16 weeks and 13 weeks. My one Black Autralorp is so red-faced and so wide that I expect an egg every time I go out to the coop. I call them all a bunch of freeloaders but they just cock their heads and croon back at me. Yesterday I saw big blackie making an indentation in the bedding (even though there are 4 nesting boxes) so I thought for sure by today.....nothing.

I feel like Ricky in the Lucy episode where she gives birth. All this nonsense has to end soon!

As of today my wait is over!! TWO eggs AT ONCE laid by my EE! She is 20 weeks old. 2 more hens to go...

Please be patient, everyone. It WILL happen! The last 2 weeks, I've made sure to have extra protein and oyster shells available and I have noticed that after that, they put on about 1/4 lb. each--like they've bumped themselves up.

I got an egg today too! It looks like a torpedo!

But I'm still proud of my girls. This heat has been brutal so I am grateful for anything. Of course I've checked the coop 15 times today and have totally put them off their game. Maybe I'll get a two-fer tomorrow too! Congrats everyone and good luck everyone else!
