I honestly don't think it is as bad as other peoples dogs barking endlessly at nothing at all, then when one barks the whole neighborhood's dogs have to bark too.

stellacat, thanks

I agree that the dogs barking is more of an annoyance. When we first decided to get a few chicks we did the right thing and went to the town and asked to make sure it was OK. They basically said there is no permit required for chickens, and as long as they do not get noise complaints all is good. They recommended no roo's, but it is OK in our town.
Our neighbors are cool and since I offered them free eggs, they are cool with the chicks!

Our chicks are now 9 weeks old and living in their new coop and run. So far they have not figured out that sleeping in the coop, vs under it, is the best place to be. I guess in time they will figure it out.

Anyway, here are a few pics. Before and after, or one day old and now.

The chick with the dark features is still the dark one all grown up

9 weeks later. Kaluha is the one with the dark head.

I love the color change, Cinnamon now has a black head, Twinkle is the lightest, and Sweet Pea is slightly darker.
