Who else was on lockdown 9/5-9/9? (Post your Hatch Round-ups!)

You should pips on day 19 or 20 usually. This is my first hatch too so I am with you on the nerves. When you set your eggs, what time of day did you set them? that can determine exactly where you are in days...

Example...I set my eggs around 5:00 pm...so I did not count that day as day 1, I counted the next day as Day 1. If you set them early in the day then that would be Day 1. Make sense?

I set mine in the evening at 6. I just tried candling, but seen only a black mass. I'm really hoping atleast 1 hatches....the nerves will probably keep me up tonight.

. It seems like time went by so fast. I can't believe it's almost time! Yay!

I'm on day 20 with 20 eggs, 5 speckled wyandottes and 15 speckled sussex. I have 6 in an incubator of which 4 are pipping!. The rest are under 3 broody hens and I don't want to disturb them much although I know at least one is pipping. It will be interesting to see who is most successful, me with an incubator or one of the 3 hens.

Got to go out today and buy bedding material. Then set up the heat lamp and make it nice and warm for them.

Pip pip pip!

Ive got 6 Mixed breed in my bator, day 20 no pips yet

i'm getting a bit edgy, they were all moving with good air sacks on day 18 so here's hoping.

PS I thought this thread needed a pic so here's some I hatched out last time .

black mass close to hatch time is a chick usually. They will fill the shell up completely and it will look dark.

Yup coturnix take somewhere from 15-18 days...usually around 17 days.

Day 20.... checked the bator... NOTHING

poured a cup of coffee...

looked again. and then......

I heard cheeping!

I am looking for pips now..... My eggs will be hatching soon!

I have 59 total that were live the last candling. Some of the eggs are from Walmart. (fertile eggs) Only 3 out of 12 made it this far

59 eggs wow your gonna be busy, I got another pip so i'm happy now. I would hate to hatch out just one lonely chick.
