OOOO The Owens Valley has a lot of history with earthquakes!!!! ROCKS!!!

ha ha! I thought you'd like that! Big 'ol Magnitude 7.5 - 8.0 in 1872. It produced a tsunami on the Owens Lake (15 meters deep at the time...didn't get sucked dry until 1915-ish).

Ihave been REALLY tempted to head to trona after that quake last month....... However... We have excavators at our construction site, and I hauled a NICE rock today!!! Quartz, but still, nice grooves...

I like that! I will have to put that on the list of considerations!

That's the second time I've been being goofy and come up with a good title.

You should check out Rainbow Basin near Barstow. Talk about cool rocks!!! mud-crack tuffs (ash deposited over mud cracks so the tuff has the imprint of the mud cracks on the bottom). And it is faulted and deformed like crazy!

I'm game.

I was simply BLESSED today.

I had two Wisdom Tooth extractions that should have been extremely hard, and they ended up being semi-easy... the roots should have broken, but they didn't.

What a blessing!

Some might call it LUCK!

It's a really neat area! Only about 15 minutes or so outside of Barstow. Here a link to the BLM page and better pictures are found at this site. If we go, be ready for some hiking (not too bad...just a decent walk to see some really cool features.

). Going with me may be dangerous though. I've mapped the area before, so I know it fairly well, and being a rock geek..well, I can go on and on out there!
