I am looking into possibly growing a small amount of organic wheat for the chicken/goats. My problems is I have no idea how many pounds I will get say, per acre.

If planted densely, about how many pounds of wheat could I harvest in an acre with excellent soil and plenty of water?

I'd only want to plant it if it would be worth it in harvested pounds. lol

50 bu/acre would be a low amount. so 3000#'s per acre.

Thanks. What I am figuring with the help of another lady and you is anywhere between 1,000-3,000 pounds per acre. I'd say I will get less just because I tend to be unlucky, LOL.

If you plant it correctly, take care of it, 50 bu/a is unlucky as it should do 75-100 bu/acre.

Call your local seed store - Not lowes or home depot but someone who deals and seed. Its different per acre depending where you plant. They will let you know what you need and your per bushel harvest.
