Who has Digital TV? Your opinions......

All signals are now digital. You need a good antenna to pick them up without dish or cable. The better the antenna, the better the pickup. Remember rotors and signal boosters? Location, location, location.

I have always wondered what is Digital TV and how many channels do you get if you have Digital TV? Does anyone have digital television? If so, do you like it? What channels do you get with Digital TV? What is the best type of digital television to purchase in order to have digital television?

Also, what is the best route to go if a person does not want to pay an arm, a leg, a foot, an eye and 3 chickens for Cable Television?

I have 2 TVs one digital one not but with a converter box. Both are connected to a roof antenna and get about 30 channels. I do admit only about 10-15 are worth watching. Some channels are iffy in windy weather, but I do get signals from Olympia, and Vancouver BC. I am in the Seattle burbs, so that is a distance. My neighbor just took down a tree and I need to adjust the antenna again. It's kind of funny, but every once in a while it'll lose a channel. I'll go back to reprogram it and it'll find new channels.
It took a bit to get used to it, but I like the picture on the digital TV now.
I get ABC, NBC, CBS, PBS x2, ION, FOX, Several syndication channels, religious channels, sports, foreign language, retro, news etc.
I think most if not all TVs sold now are digital. My digital one is just a small one in the kitchen. I bought the cheapest one at Fry's, and it works great. My only complaint about it, is: I added a DVD player to it, and found the sound when I played movies was too quiet. I ended up adding an old pair of computer speakers too and now I can hear it well when I'm puttering around the kitchen.

If I find the money, I will by a system like I read something about. There is satellite systems that have what's called "free-to-air" stations mostly religious stations, PBS type (might not be the brand name PBS but university stations that does educational and other such programing similar to the name brand) some other stations that are not "premium" cable stations that are not scrambled because the owners don't care if you watch them for free because there are so few people who watch on these type systems it won't hardly effect their bottom line. also there are some providers who send the cable networks or broadcast stations re-runs of old shows and they hold no real schedule so you might see 2-3 hours of an old Lucy shows one day and the next week it's nothing on at that time or it might be something like bosom buddies. you must by the dish and receiver and more than likely have to install it yourself because the equipment isn't hard to get, just pricey, and nobody really wants to sell and service it (like initial set-up) because they just get a one time mark up on it, while they get a little bit of money from selling you a name brand package (like dish) as long as you keep up the subscription.
